Buster's
Bistro Eclectic Cuisine in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Alicia
Leeke and Cindy Roddey
Buster's Bistro Eclectic Cuisine in Columbia, SC, celebrates the
holiday season with the exhibit, Color Frenzy, featuring
artworks using watercolor, acrylic, pastels, and colored pencils.
Coming together from two different perspectives, Alicia Leeke
and Cindy Roddey explore color through a variety of mediums. Both
local artists have exhibited in the Southeast. The exhibit will
be on view from Dec. 12 through Jan. 2, 2005.
Cindy Roddey, an Atlanta, GA, native residing in Columbia studied
with acclaimed AWS juror Marbry Hill Brown while attending Queens
College in Charlotte, NC, and with Alalin pastel artist Sarah
Miatt. This collection seeks to explore color through non-traditional
subject matter and her recent works reflect Miatt's unique perspective
of color that is often overlooked in nature.
Alicia Leeke, a local emerging artist, will present her new acrylic
works including Last Call, plus several works from her
miniature series including La Petite Cantada, and A
Star Is Born. Leeke, a post-impressionistic style painter,
prefers landscapes and quaint street scenes. Her work strives
to capture the essence of every-day events, converting ordinary
scenes into lively images. Complementing each painting is a robust
palette with textured acrylics full of rich reds, vibrant oranges,
shocking blues and sharp white accents.
