Buster's Bistro in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Britta Cruz and Alicia Leeke
Buster's Bistro Eclectic Cuisine in Columbia, SC, presents the exhibit, Go - Figure It Out!, featuring figurative sculpture by Britta Cruz and paintings by Alicia Leeke, on view through Jan. 31, 2006. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Palmetto Childrens Hospital.
Britta Cruz, a native of Munich, Germany, has lived in Spain and North Africa, before coming to Columbia in 1992. She presents a series of never shown before figurative wall pieces. These works were inspired by a recent trip to Penland, NC, visiting fellow artist Jeff Donovan.
The centerpiece for this exhibit however, evolved long before, from an attempt to visualize a friend's wisdom: "People are like weeds, but once in a while you will find a flower."
Alicia Leeke, a local emerging artist will
present her new series of female figurative paintings. Her work
strives to capture the essence of every-day events, converting
ordinary scenes into lively images. Complementing each painting
is a robust palette full of luscious limes, vibrant oranges, magenta,
yellow and crisp black accents.
