Hilton Head Art Gallery on Hilton Head Island, SC, Hosts Inaugural Art Exhibition
The Hilton Head Art Gallery on Hilton Head
Island, SC, will hosts its inaugural art exhibition, Winterfaire,
on view from Dec. 4 - 10, 2005. Works by artists in South Carolina
and Georgia will be featured in this judged show and exhibition.
Works in pen and ink, acrylic, collage, oil, ceramic, pastel,
photographic, watercolor, gouache and pastel, colored pencil,
sculpture and oil/mixed media will be presented.
Internationally known watercolor artist Wayne Chambers of Savannah,
GA, will be the judge for this show that will showcase works by
more than 60 artists. "We are pleased that we have several
artists involved in our inaugural show," said Chris Mullaney,
president of the Hilton Head Art Gallery. "The work displayed
represents a broad range of themes, with pieces ranging from watercolor
to photography."
"We're also honored to have Mr. Chambers as our judge. He's a well respected artist," Mullaney said. Chambers has studied fine art throughout his life including life drawing, oil painting and composition at the New York Art Students League. Before his retirement it the corporate sector, he painted watercolors for the Retail Merchants Association of Greater Richmond, VA, until his move to Savannah. Chambers instructs workshops at Telfair Museum, Armstrong Atlantic University and the Savannah Christian Academy. He was designated the official artist for Savannah's famed Mercer House and has received recognition as one of the top five artists to collect in Savannah.
Mullaney said many of the artists such as Sondra
Ammeen, Terry Brennan, Helen Evans, Tina Fripp, Robert Hain, Juliana
Kim, Thomas Marek, Robert Weissman and others featured in Winterfaire
are well-known locally and regionally, particularly in their
genre. Their work will be for sale.
Hilton Head Art Gallery is a non-profit organization offering
works by regional and local artists at its location in Pineland
Station.
