Modern Eye Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers an Exhibition of Abstract Works
Emma Soyak
In celebration of our first year in Charlotte, NC, modern eye gallery proudly presents A Journey through Abstraction. This exhibition will feature the work of the gallery's stable of local, national, and international artists. The show will run through Dec. 31, 2005.
A Journey through Abstraction will present the work of the entire roster of the gallery's artists and will include paintings, works on paper, limited edition graphics, photography, and sculpture. The goal of this exhibit is to highlight the different artists' interpretations of the non-objective world. Each artist in the show has chosen or created a unique vernacular in which to express the abstract, both visually and stylistically. Color, form, and light combine in styles ranging from the geometric to the expressionistic. The desire to create emotion within the viewer through non-representational expression is the unifying element among the artists.
James Leonard
Our first year in the Charlotte has been filled
with many wonderful experiences, most notably meeting all the
people who have a sincere appreciation for the arts and mid-century
modernism. Part of our mission in opening the gallery was to focus
exclusively on the non-representational side of artistic expression
and to introduce the work of local, national, and international
artists who dedicate their talents to this sole pursuit. Thus,
we name this show A Journey through Abstraction to celebrate
this first year here which has been a tremendously rewarding journey
and for which we are grateful for all the support Charlotte has
given us.
modern eye gallery invites you to come and see this show with
the hope that it stirs the imagination and invokes a greater appreciation
for the diversity of abstract expression in art.
