Joie Lassiter Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Ron Boehmer
The Joie Lassiter Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present and exhibit of paintings by landscape artist Ron Boehmer. His panoramic renderings provide a glimpse into the natural beauty and soothing peace of the countryside. The exhibit will be on view from Dec. 1 through Jan. 30, 2007.
Boehmer uses two approaches in his work: plein air, or outdoor on-site painting, and in-studio work. In his pieces painted on-site, the artist seeks to capture, document, and express an immediate response to his environment. These works are completed in just one session of painting in order to achieve an "unfolding focused performance", used to describe both the visual expression of the image and the experience of the actual painting process. Springing from both memory and improvisation, the studio pieces rework issues of composition, paint surface, color, and light.
Boehmer's most recent endeavors seek to explore choreographed, yet spontaneous, brushwork meant to convey expression and description through an improvisational manner. To the artist, the abstract and structural elements of his work as well as the process of painting itself comprise important interests.
Boehmer's imagery includes broad country views that are simultaneously awe-inspiring and calming. Lush trees, golden cornfields, red barns, serene lakes, and distant blue mountains occupy the picture plane. These breathtaking scenes communicate varying moods and atmospheres, while always pleasing the eye and spirit of the beholder.
