UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Regina Lee Shackelford

UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Omniscient, featuring larger-than-life paintings of hands by UNC Asheville senior Regina Lee Shackelford. The exhibit is on view through Dec. 14, 2007, at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery, Ramsey Library. The show is a culmination of Shackelford's work toward a bachelor of arts degree at UNC Asheville.

Shackelford holds an associates degree in fine arts from Coastal Carolina Community College. She has exhibited in several exhibitions and received several awards, including Best in Show for an exhibition at the Greenlife Community Center. Her work has been described as expressive, metaphysical, mystical and psychedelic.

"I am interested in how humanity, the environment and their Creator relate to each other in a harmonious way," Shackelford said. "I portray the various dimensions of these relationships by depicting the omniscient hands embedded in an abstract and imaginative space. My work physically represents aspects of the supernatural."
