Gallery in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Jonathan M. Porter
Art and Light Gallery in Greenville, SC, will present the exhibit, New Works of Love by Jonathan M. Porter, on view from Dec. 5 - 20, 2008.
Porter offered the following about this exhibition, "These new works are focused around a love narrative between two birds atop vintage dress patterns and other textile patterning. The works evoke ideas of nostalgia and the simplicity and innocence of new love. The natural materials which I employ in my paintings make the works familiar, subtle yet intricately interesting. I explore the possibilities of numerous materials in my paintings, seeking to find the place where various layers and methods of application and removal of materials become a harmonized unit. My work begins on wood panels from which I make use of materials such as inks, found paper, acrylic paint, wood stains/polyurethanes and hand made patterns."
