Clinton College
in Rock Hill, SC, Offers Works by Alease Michelle
Clinton College in Rock Hill, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Personal Rites: Visual Storytelling, featuring works by Rock Hill artist Alease Michelle, on view in the college's Dalton Gallery through Dec. 11, 2008.
The exhibition present a series of mix-media collages representing the artist's visual interpretation of personal life stories of African American men, women, and children during the early 20th Century.
Michelle constructs compositions made from fragments of photographs, objects and letters to tell unique stories that possess meaning for her personally, as well as anyone who recognizes the power of family. She attended Fort Mill High School, received her BA in Studio Art from the University of South Carolina and her MA in Visual Arts from Goddard College in Vermont. Michelle is currently working on her Ed.D from Argosy University in Atlanta. She is an instructor at the Art Institute of Charlotte where she teaches Fashion Marketing and Management.
