RedSky Gallery
in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Melisa Cadell and Sarah Faulkner
RedSky Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Nature of Being: Melisa Cadell and Sarah Faulkner, on view through Dec. 31, 2008.
The work of North Carolina
ceramic artist Melisa Cadell is focused on the spiritual being
that is represented by the human figure. Through her work, Cadell
strives to "record the triumph of the human existence as
I have observed it in the strong people who have entered my life.
Clay allows me the opportunity to form figures who sing of their
past, and who are witnesses of their history."
In contrast, Sarah Faulkner's encaustic paintings focus on the
tranquility of nature and invite the viewer to enjoy "just
being". The cool tones and peaceful scenes provide an
exciting juxtaposition to the struggle represented in Cadell's
ceramic pieces.
