Local Artists Group Gallery 10 to Exhibit at the Anderson County Arts Center, Anderson, SC
A local group of 10 artists, organized under the name, Gallery 10, will be exhibiting at the Anderson County Arts Center, in Anderson, SC, from Feb. 11 through Mar. 3.
Come and enjoy a classic art subject, Still Lifes, with Gallery 10 and the Anderson County Arts Center. The group of artists includes 7 painters, 2 potters and 1 photographer. The participating artists, all from Anderson, except where noted, are Jose Acaba (Honea Path), John Davis (Pendleton) Kathy Garraty, Tom Gibson, Ann Heard, Kate Krause, Rosemary Moore (Honea Path) , Nancy Perry, Andrea Shoemaker, and Diann Simms.
Gallery 10 is an eclectic group with varied backgrounds and lifestyles. Some are full-time artists; others squeeze their expressive side in between demanding careers and family. Kate Krause, a potter, is a former art teacher who took up pottery on a dare from her husband. Her whimsical "cat bowl" creations are a favorite at Pottery Too, a dual partnership between Gallery 10 and the Anderson County Arts Center, located in the old Sullivan Hardware building on Main Street in Anderson. Also part of this partnership is Diann Simms, Associate Administrator at Medicus, who, despite an extremely demanding work environment, "can't remember being without some 'artistic' project."
With the desire to create in common, the members of Gallery 10 seek and find a variety of sources for their inspiration. John Davis is inspired by nature, while Nancy Perry focuses on the "relationships of similar, shapes, patterns and colors found everywhere."
