Announcing September 2000 A Month For CERF
The Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) announces that the fourth annual A Month for CERF will take place during the month of September 2000. CERF invites galleries throughout the United States to join together this September in their support for CERF, an organization that helps professional craftspeople suffering career-threatening emergencies in their lives.
Last year, 64 galleries participated in A Month for CERF and raised over $19,000 for professional craftspeople in crises. Thanks to participating galleries from around the country the event also raised CERF's visibility throughout the US., getting the word out about CERF's programs and services to craftspeople.
"In 2000, our goal is to have 100 galleries around the country join us in our efforts to help professional craftspeople quickly recover from emergencies and return to their work. A Month for CERF gives galleries an easy way to 'lend a hand' and help CERF help craftspeople in need," noted Executive Director, Cornelia Carey.
Galleries can participate in A Mouth for CERF in a variety of ways depending on what works best for the gallery. Some examples of events sponsored by galleries last year are:
1% for CERF Month or 10% for CERF Day - designating 1% of the month's receipts or 10% of a day's receipts to be donated to CERF;
a silent auction of work donated by gallery artists;
a raffle for a $100 gallery gift certificate.
Galleries will discover that there are many ways to participate in A Month for CERF. The important thing is that galleries join together and support CERF and by doing so, demonstrate that they care about craftspeople suffering emergencies in their lives.
