February Issue 2002
Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, Features Works by Lin Barnhardt and Alex Clark
Lin Barnhardt of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Alex Clark of Charlotte, NC, will combine their talents in a joint exhibition of ceramic architectural sculptures and paintings at the Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC. The exhibit will be on display Feb. 4 - 27, 2002.
Lin Barnhardt builds ceramic sculptures of notable homes and buildings in the Carolinas which are then painted with acrylic paints. The result is a detailed representation which combines accuracy and a sense of humor at "birdhouse" scale. Barnhardt was chosen this year to design an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree.
Alex Clark was born in New York City but lives and works now in Charlotte, NC. Art critic Betsy Bilger describes Clark as "one of North Carolina's most important painters." Clark teaches painting and has served as artist-in-residence at the Tryon Center for the Visual Arts in Charlotte.
