Richland Co. Library in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Bettye Ackerman Jaffe
The Main Branch of the Richland County Public
Library system in Columbia, SC, is presenting an exhibition of
works by Bettye Ackerman. The exhibit will be on view in the Wachovia
Gallery through Mar. 28, 2002.
Jaffe, originally from Cottageville, SC, is well known for her
use of bright, vivid colors. She attended Otis Art Institute where
she studied primarily with Joseph Mugnaini and George DeGroat.
Her work has been published in Mugnaini's books Oil Painting:
Techniques and Materials, The Hidden Elements of Drawing, Expressive
Drawing and Actors as Artists. In 1972, artist-director Harry
Horner chose 13 of her drawings and watercolors to authenticate
an artist's studio and home in his episode of the TV series Love
Story.
