February Issue 2003
Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Solo Exhibition by Cisco Lindsey
The Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, is presenting a special exhibit of new works by guest artist Cisco Lindsey from Feb. 1 through Apr. 30, 2003.
"Cisco Lindsey began his art career with commercial art courses in 1948," says Cathy Brandt-Spencer, gallery co-owner. "His early interests were in sculpture and he studied and worked as a protege of wood sculptor Joseph Goethe in Monterey, CA. He also studied sculpture at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. His life-long interest and activities in art enrich his work now that he is currently concentrating on painting."
After working as an illustrator for the US Army during the Korean War, Lindsey had a long career in the field of publishing, retiring from McGraw-Hill as an editorial vice-president. After moving to the Isle of Palms, SC, Lindsey continues his art career, studying with such local artists as Rhett Thurman, William Jameson, and Elizabeth Bronson.
Lindsey is an exhibiting member of the Charleston Artist Guild and Mt. Pleasant Artist Guild. He has exhibited and won awards in various shows throughout the Lowcountry.
