The fourth annual Mint Condition Gala and Auction on Apr. 17, 2004, to benefit the Mint Museum of Craft + Design in Charlotte, NC, will feature 70 stellar works by major craft artists including glass artists Rick Beck, Dale Chihuly, Jon Kuhn, William Morris, John Littleton/Kate Vogel, Tommie Rush and Yamamoto; jewelry artists Carolyn Morris Back, Douglas Harling and Linda MacNeil; ceramic artists Cynthia Bringle, Ken Eastman, Mark Hewitt and Jane Peiser; metal artists Tom Joyce, Hoss Haley and Albert Paley; and wood artists William Hunter, Michael Schuler, Tommy Simpson and Randy Shull.
The auction highlight will be the bidding for Cube within a Cube, by Czech glass artists Jaroslava Brychtová and the late Stanislav Libebsk´y. Ms. Brychtová will be a special guest at the April Founders' Circle Weekend at the Mint Museum of Craft + Design, home to Relations, the last American commission created by the internationally renowned Czechoslovakian husband and wife team.
Beginning on Mar. 15, craft collectors will be able to access a web site at (www.MintCraftandDesignauction.com) which will offer the opportunity to bid on-line for over 70 works. Offerings are available for both new collectors in the $500 range and for connoisseur collectors with values ranging from $1,500 to $45,000. Many of the on-line auction items will allow bidders to definitively secure a particular item in advance of the Gala evening by bidding up to the stated close out level. Bidding will culminate with The Mint Condition Gala auction event on Apr. 17, 2004. Cocktails and hors d' oeuvres will be offered on the 59th and 60th floors of the Bank of America Corporate Center. Gala patrons will then be treated to a seated dinner prepared by Bank of America Executive Chef Chris Ivens Brown, a legendary culinary expert.
The Gala evening will honor Jaroslava Brychtová and her late husband Stanislav Libebsk´y, regarded as the most influential glass artists of our time. All Benefactors of the Gala evening will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Brychtová at a private reception, also on Apr. 17.
Gala tickets are available at $250 per parton
and $350 per Benefactor. For ticket purchases call Anna Sims at
