Furman University in Greenville, SC, Offers Works by Mark Hosford
Furman University's Thompson Art Gallery in Greenville, SC, is currently featuring an exhibit by Mark Hosford, assistant professor of art at Vanderbilt University. The exhibit will continue through Feb. 10, 2006.
Hosford's prints, drawings, and animations seek to explore themes of human interaction, including gender, history, social criticism and dream symbolism. His screenprints examine in silhouette specific and ambiguous life moments, merging Victorian sentimentality with a modern aesthetic.
Hosford has taught courses in printmaking, drawing and digital art and multimedia at Vanderbilt since 2001. Previously, he taught at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Hosford's works have been displayed throughout the United States and in Poland. He holds degrees from the University of Tennessee and the University of Kansas.
