Hilton Head Art League on Hilton Head Island, SC, Offers Works by Dave Greenberg
The
Hilton Head Art League on Hilton Head Island, SC, will present
the exhibit, Images, Near and Far, featuring photographs
by Dave Greenberg, at the Art League's gallery, from Feb. 14 through
Mar. 11, 2006.
Greenberg has traded in his surgical equipment for a digital camera,
capturing wonderful Lowcountry landscapes and images in his travels
abroad. Now a full-time resident of Hilton Head Island, he and
his wife hail from Colorado where he had a busy orthopedic surgery
practice.
Greenberg became interested in film photography more than 17 years
ago in Denver when he studied with Ronald Wohlauer, Chairman of
the Department of Photography at Denver's Community College. With
his own darkroom, Greenberg won many awards for his black and
white photos at the Colorado State Fair. He has now abandoned
his film camera for a digital one, and uses his darkroom to edit
his digital photos.
"This area provides some wonderful wildlife settings for photography," says Greenberg. "I research locations with great care before venturing out with my camera." Among his favorite scenes are in wildlife management areas, such as the Black Water Swamp in the Webb Wildlife Management area on the SC side of the Savannah River.
The show will include some of Greenberg's black and white photos, as well as images from his travels in the Far East, including Thailand and Bali, and the Rocky Mountains.
Photographs by Greenberg can be seen at The Gallery in Beaufort, SC; Pluff Mudd Gallery in Bluffton, SC; and the Hilton Head Art League Gallery in Pineland Station.
The Hilton Head Art League is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the community and increasing the art skills of its members. Started in 1972, the League now provides a gallery in Pineland Station, managed by volunteers, to display and sell the work of its members. It offers intensive studio workshop classes with nationally-renowned art instructors, as well as art classes for artists and would-be artists of all ages at the Art Academy on Cordillo Parkway, staffed by well-known local art instructors.
