February Issue 2006
Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features New Group Exhibition
Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC presents Land and Sea, a new exhibition featuring landscapes, seascapes and still life oil paintings by over twenty regional and nationally recognized artists represented by the gallery. This exhibition opens on Feb. 7 through Mar. 2, 2006.
Cityscapes showcasing the backstreets of New York City, circa 1900, by Master Pastelist, George Thompson will also be included in this exhibition. Working from black and white period photographs, Thompson creates detailed paintings infused with bold color and a deep sense of atmosphere. His compositions are examples of traditional, American Impressionism at its height.
Shain Gallery is also pleased to welcome a new artist, Nicora Gangi. A Professor of Art at Syracuse University, she has received national recognition for her exquisite works of pastel on paper. Gangi has been honored with over twenty-five exhibitions and her work has been featured in numerous arts publications including: American Artist Magazine and The Pastel Journal. Her subject matter includes a series of birds and a variety of still life works. Gangi describes herself as a "narrative artist" who searches for the contrasts in life and in her art to "give the viewer an account of what I understand to be true."
