February Issue 2006
West End Art Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, Features Group Exhibit by Women
West End Art Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, will present a group exhibit entitled, 3-Dimensional Women. The exhibition will open on Feb. 24 and continue through Mar. 25, 2006.
This group show will feature works by some of the most well-known North Carolina three-dimension women artists. Featured works will include sculptures, metal wall hangings, ceramics, glass, mixed media pieces, paintings, and fiber.
Anne Cunningham
Anne Cunningham, over the years, has continued to experiment using light-weight metals such as copper, brass, aluminum. Shaping and texturizing, applying papers, inks, dyes, and chemicals to create large and small free form shapes, structured shapes, and layered shapes. Although she has been at it now for over 10 years she still feels as if she has just started the exploration.
Mary Ann Prack
Mary Ann Prack is the very essence of the abstract expressionist artist. A distinction that makes her a unique and provocative sculptor creating spirited yet serious and elegant figurative artwork. Sculpture that has a fresh joyousness expressed by luminous colors and sharply-etched detail, tensioned against sensuous organic forms.
Amy Levine
Amy Levine creates unique three dimensional constructions unlike any you have encountered before. These pieces are built on wood armatures and covered in acid free foam core and cotton pulp. The figures are canvas coated foam core. Each piece is painted in acrylics in an expressionistic style based on representation. A finished piece resembles a page ripped out of a book, leaving the viewer wondering what may go on beyond the ripped edges.
Other artists include Sharron Parker (fiber), Lilo Kemper (clay), Jody Walker (glass), Arlene Florence (3-D paintings), Kathleen Ramich (clay), Betty Kjelson (fiber & paper), and Mary Marchese (glass).
Please join us for this exciting exhibition and show your support to these innovative 3-dimensional women artists!
