Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, Features Group Clay Exhibition
The Wilkes Art Gallery
in North Wilkesboro, NC, is presenting Clay Matters, a
ceramics art exhibit featuring unique works by over 25 North and
South Carolina potters. The exhibit will be on display through
Feb. 11, 2006.
Carolina Clay Matters was founded over 15 years ago in Charlotte,
NC by Leslie Betz Malone, potter and instructor at the University
of North Carolina at Charlotte. The group has grown over the years
to now include approximately 100 members. The Guild hosts bi-annual
pottery shows in May and October and exhibits collectively throughout
the year. The Guild meets monthly to collaborate and share ideas
and information. They also sponsor workshops on a variety of relative
topics with instructors from across the country. Participating
potters will be exhibiting a variety of works including hand built
works, wheel thrown utility ware, decorative Raku pieces, tiles,
sculpture and wall pieces.
Participating potters include Laraine Middleton, Leon Nichols,
Sarah Coppola, Kim Lewis, Joyce Branch, Patti Bryan, Sylvia Coppola,
Jim Dalton, Linda Dalton, Corine Dedmon, Hal Dedmon, Dale Duncan,
Babs Goodall, Greg Goodall, Bob Hasselle, Byron Knight, Georgia
Knight, Gary Lee, Bary Lockman, Lambeth Marshall, Richard Marshall,
Jennifer Mecca, Alex Miller, Cindi Powell, Gary Rubin, Amy Sanders
and Hat Thompson.
This exhibit is sponsored in part by Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
The Gallery is very appreciative of their generous support of
