Art League Academy of Hilton Head on HHI, SC, Features Faculty Exhibit
The art instructors at the Art League of Hilton Head's Art Academy will have an exhibition of some of their artwork at the Academy on Cordillo Parkway on Hilton Head Island, SC, through Mar. 23, 2007. Many of the paintings will be for sale. It's a good opportunity to study the work of the artists.
The instructors are all local artists and they work in a variety of media, including oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics and collage. They offer classes in portraiture, landscape painting, plein air painting and ancient coiled basketry, calligraphy and silver jewelry design. All of the Academy's instructors have received numerous awards for their paintings and other artwork; many have won national recognition and acclaim.
Instructors participating in the exhibition include: Lynda Potter, Alexandra Sharma, Don Nelson, Joyce Nagel, Mary Kelly, Ted Jordan, Uschi Niner, Don Nagel, Donna Ireton, Diane Bass, Barry Honowitz, Joanna Chalson, Vickie Jourdan, Evy Grouse, Betsy Rogers, g.a. Sheller, Kaytee Esser, Barbara Snow, and Rosemary Hurkamp all well-known names locally.
The Art League of Hilton Head promotes and supports the visual arts through education, exhibitions and partnerships for the cultural enrichment of the community and its visitors. It is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit membership organization. The Art League operates a volunteer managed art gallery in Pineland Station for the sale of artwork by its members, provides art instruction at the Art Academy and offers intensive week-long workshops featuring nationally-renowned instructors from across the country.
