Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, Offers Works by Shingo Francis
Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, is presenting the exhibit, New Horizons, featuring works by Shingo Francis in the Elizabeth Stone Harper Gallery through Mar. 8, 2007.
Francis currently maintains studios in Yokohama, Japan, and Brooklyn, NY, and works in painting, drawing, and photography. His work has a minimal and abstract approach to the landscape with an emphasis on geographic scale and light. His most recent works, including those on view, are a series of ocean and desert horizons.
A native of Santa Monica, CA, Francis earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. His work has been shown throughout the world in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco and in Japan, Switzerland, and South Korea.
In 2003, Francis earned the SICF Fumio Nanjo Award presented in honor of the deputy director of the Mori Museum in Tokyo, Japan.
