Blue Ridge Arts Council in Seneca, SC, Presents Annual Juried Show
The Blue Ridge Arts Council in Seneca, SC, is presenting its largest and most prestigious show, Captured Imagination, the BRAC's 17th Annual Juried Exhibition, on view through Mar. 7, 2008.
Karen Derksen, Assistant Director, Winthrop University Galleries, served as juror for the artwork. Best of Show, Merit and Sponsor awards for two-dimensional and three-dimensional work will be given. In addition, several "One Man Shows" will be awarded.
This exhibit will be dedicated to Ruth Howell who died on Dec. 30, 2007. She was a long time benefactor to Blue Ridge in many ways. An outstanding artist in her own right, she also supported and encouraged many friends throughout the years. Howell donated a significant wing to the church building housing Blue Ridge Arts that is used for classes and lectures. In addition, she was responsible for the very first Juried Art Exhibit at BRAC. Interestingly, one of her several 'Monday Painters", Shirley Brodoff won the first juried award. A display of her artwork will be shown in the studio, which she made possible, along with biographical info and photographs of her attending various events with her many friends.
For the second year is a row, BRAC is partnering with the Seneca Woman's Club to sponsor a sister exhibit, A Glimpse of Imagination. This exhibit will feature work that is not chosen for the juried show and will be on exhibit at the historic Ballenger House in Seneca. Art enthusiasts will be able to view and purchase pieces on display.
