Columbia Film Society in Columbia, SC Continues Its Film Tour

The Columbia Film Society, in Columbia, SC, is one of the host for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit Film Tour, a program of the SC Arts Commission. The Southern Circuit is a touring exhibition of six independent film/videomakers with their works; and is the only centrally-organized, regional program of its kind in the nation. The Circuit continues with David Simpson's Halsted Street, USA, Thursday, Mar. 23 at 8pm.

From heartland cornfields to Chicago's boisterous soul, Halsted Street, USA, offers a crash course in cultural geography. This kaleidoscopic road movie traces the length of one vibrant, disparate thoroughfare, revealing the American melting pot at full boil.

There will be a filmmaker reception, from 6:30-730pm, prior to the screening at 8pm at the Nickelodeon Theatre, located at 937 Main Street in Columbia, behind the State House.

Columbia's site for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit is sponsored by Bravo, the independent film and video channel and Time Warner Cable.

Individual ticket prices are as follows: $3.50 for members of McKissick Museum and Columbia Film Society; $4.50 for seniors and students; and $6.00 for non-members. It should be noted that only members of the Columbia Film Society and McKissick Museum can reserve seats. Seats must be reserved by 5:30pm the evening of the individual screening. Reserve tickets will be held at the Nickelodeon Theatre box office, 10 minutes prior to the screening. Unclaimed tickets will be sold.

For more information call the Nickelodeon Theatre at 803/254-8234 or check out the Columbia Film Society web site at (http://www.nickelodeon.org).
