The Semans Gallery in Durham, NC, Presents Works by Jacqueline Hammer
Painted Paper Sculptures is the title of an exhibit by Pittsboro, NC, artist, Jacqueline Hammer that will hang in the Semans Gallery of the Durham Arts Council Building in Durham, NC, from Mar. 12 through Apr.10, 2000.
Hammer studied at The Arts Students League in New York, The Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy, and Columbia University where she received a BS degree in art.
Hammer has had several solo exhibitions in NC and in FL. She has also exhibited her work in galleries and museums in Washington, DC, Philadelphia and Westchester County, NY. In 1988 she won Best in Show award at the Halifax Art Festival of the Museum of Arts and Science in Daytona Beach, FL. Her work is in numerous public and private collections.
For many years Hammer taught painting and drawing at schools and community organizations. Since 1979 she has taught Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain in New York, Connecticut, and Florida. For the past 10 years she has been teaching that program at Duke Continuing Education.
