Lowcountry Heritage Society Announces Annual Spring Event on Wadmalaw Island, SC

The Lowcountry Heritage Society announces its spring event which will be held on Mar. 31, on Wadmalaw Island, SC. The society will present new works of art, including piano compositions, paintings, photography, sculpture and poetry. Please join the artists for Lowcountry inspired artwork under the oaks from 2 - 5pm and for a picnic, which is provided. The rain date is Apr. 1.

The location is privately owned land on the Wadmalaw River at Martin's Point. Directions will be included with the tickets.

There will be music by Edward Hart and Trevor Weston, poetry by Paul Allen, Dennis Stiles, Carol Ann Davis and Charles Waring. Noted author Nick Lindsay will be present reading excerpts from his new book about Edisto Island entitled And I'm Glad which is filled with photographs by Julia Cart Day. The visual artists participating in this event are Susan Avent, Eva Carter, Susan Colwell, Lese Corrigan, Kimberly Crowell, JD Cummings, John D. Donehue, Jr., John Carroll Doyle, John Duckworth, Linda Fantuzzo, Wes Fredsell, Jill Hooper, Lynne Riding, Sallie Simons, Shannon Smith, Zan Smith, Martha Thomas, Karen Larsen Turner, Mary Walker, and Susan Mayfield West.

The Lowcountry Heritage Society was organized in 1994 to foster and promote new works of art about or inspired by the Lowcountry.

Tickets are $15 and limited to 150, so please make reservations by visiting the Verner Gallery at 38 Tradd Street, Charleston, SC or telephoning the gallery at 843/722-4246. Advanced tickets are strongly suggested.
