Charleston Co. Library in Charleston, SC, Hosts Works by Bette Mueller-Roemer
Artist Bette Mueller-Roemer will share her
work throughout the month of March in the Saul Alexander Gallery,
located on the first floor of the Charleston County Public Library's
downtown Main Library in Charleston, SC. The exhibit entitled,
A Garden at Pinehurst, will feature watercolor paintings
and raku clay works by Bette Mueller-Roemer.
The exhibit relates to plants and flowers in the garden of Pinehurst,
a Tea Farm in Summerville, SC, in the 1880's. Only a vestige of
the original garden remains. Zinnia is a recent addition to the
variety of plants remaining which include camellia sasanqua, camellia
japonica, camellia sinensis (tea), azalea, spiraea, magnolia,
holly and wisteria.
Mueller-Roemer received her MA in Ceramics/Art History from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, and her BA in Painting and Drawing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She has taught locally at Stratford High School, Charleston Southern University and the Gibbes Museum School.
