March Issue 2002
Nina Liu & Friends in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Eric & Suzanne Longo
Eric & Suzanne Longo
Nina Liu & Friends Gallery in Charleston SC, will be featuring paintings and sculptures by Eric and Suzanne Longo during the month of Mar., 2002. The couple, originally from New Orleans, makes Beaufort, SC, the base of their creative efforts.
Suzanne Longo
Suzanne's sculptures are in the romantic figurative tradition of Mary Cassatt, Henry Moore, and Diego Rivera. With a strong architectural simplicity, they show women as odalisques, mothers, and lovers. Through her sculptures of glazed and unglazed clay, she has been searching for ways to express "the timelessness of love and joie de vivre." Her subjects are typically dancing, playing music or are with their lovers, families or pets.
Eric Longo
Eric works in the two-dimensional format and often with landscapes, but that is not indicative of anything traditional. His paintings are brightly colored and have the same optimistic feel as his wife's work. The works are magical and entertaining, and don't be surprised if you see a fish in the air playing a guitar or an angel here and there amidst his landscapes.
