A Taste for the Arts Set in Georgetown/Litchfield and Pawleys Island, SC, set for March 22, 23 & 24, 2003
The Cultural Council of Georgetown County is presenting a weekend to celebrate arts, history and culture throughout Georgetown County, SC.
On Fri., Mar. 21, 2003, art lovers are invited to A Taste for the Arts Gallery Crawl. For a $5 donation to the Cultural Council of Georgetown County, hop aboard a trolley and visit seven of Litchfield/Pawleys Island's finest art galleries for a delightful evening of art, refreshments and socializing with local artists. Participating galleries include: Art Works, Cuz- I Gallery, The Art Box, The Cheryl Newby Gallery, Grayman Gallery, The Art Box, Premier Gallery and Southwinds Gallery.
On Sat., Mar. 22, 2003, join A Taste for the Arts in downtown Georgetown, SC. Begin your morning touring historic sites with Miss. Nell's Tours and the Geraldine Jayroe's Swamp Fox Tour. Stroll down the historic streets of Georgetown and attend one of six miniconcerts presented in area churches by the Bethel AME Choir, Spiritual Lights, the Indigo Choral Society, Socastee Strings, Bethel AME Choir, and the Georgetown Youth Ensemble. The concerts are scheduled from 11am-1pm.
Make sure you view the artwork of local artists displayed on Front Street parks and along the boardwalk. Then from 2-5pm some of Georgetown's finest restaurants will be offering you their culinary specialties. Come out and see why Georgetown's restaurants are some of the finest in the area. Tastings will be offered by Palmetto Coffee & Tea Emporium, Riverside Grille, Thomas Café, Dogwood Cafe, The Rice Paddy, The River Room, Godfrey's Coffee House and The Pink Magnolia. At 4pm in the afternoon, come to enjoy the Dixieland sounds of Hotlanta, as they perform in a free concert on stage on Front Street. A Taste for the Arts in Georgetown will be a daylong event of fun for the culturally minded or those who just like culinary delights to die for!
A $5 donation to the Cultural Council and the purchase of food tickets are required to participate in A Taste for the Arts on Mar. 22. Tickets will be on sale at the Cultural Council office located in The Days Inn, 210 Church Street in Georgetown (843/527-2822) or Art Works (843/235-9600) at the Litchfield Exchange.
On Sun., Mar. 23, 2003, A Taste for the Arts presents an afternoon designed just for you! Join us at the Litchfield Exchange for an array of spectacular desserts and Southern libations. A silent auction of specialty purses created by artists of the area and a performance by Vocal Edition will highlight the afternoon. Tickets are $15 per person and may be obtained at Art Works or the Cultural Council office.
