Art Institute of Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Faculty
In Charlotte, NC, the Art Institute of Charlotte
Gallery's next exhibit will be Trio, featuring works by
three artists who are faculty members. The exhibit runs from Mar.
3-31, 2003. The featured artists are Mike Watson, Joe Thompson
and Sue Ann Johnson.
Watson's acrylic paintings on paper and canvas capture and relay
emotion to the viewer through the use of color symbolism, distorted
proportion and skewed perspective.
Thompson's acrylic on canvas paintings are inspired by scenes in Charleston, SC. Thompson is the author, photographer and designer of the book Doors & Gates of Charleston.
Sue Ann Johnson's photographs focus on young children shown in their natural environment. She teaches photography and English at The Art Institute of Charlotte.
