Myersart Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Marylinn Fairchild

Myersart Gallery/Clay on Camden in Charlotte, NC, will feature works in bronze and clay and paintings by sculptor/artist Marilynn Fairchild during the month of Mar., 2003.
Fairchild's work is maintained both nationally and internationally in several private collections. Her paintings include portraits of Princess Haifa Nahas (the daughter of King Faud of Saudi Arabia), John Settles (Vice President of Venezuelan Petroleum), and such textile magnates as Duke Kimbrell (CEO/Owner of Parkdale Mills) and Jim Stowe (Stowe Mills).

Last year, Fairchild's work was featured in the Warner Brothers film Juwannaman, which was recently released on DVD. Fairchild sculpted a life-size, bronze bust of star Miguel Nunez as well as provided original paintings, which are displayed throughout the interior set.

Fairchild attended The Royal Academy of Art in Great Britain, as well as Universities of Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina and William and Mary. She has also studied with several revered artists.

"I have combined my unique creative talents along with a profound knowledge of the psyche in portraying the pure persona, the essence of my subject within my paintings. This ability to capture the inner beauty and soul of the subject is of utmost importance. A passable likeness is not good enough to satisfy most connoisseurs. A successful artist must look beyond the physical characteristics of a visage and capture the very essence of the subject," Fairchild explains.

Fairchild, who lives in Charlotte, works in a variety of mediums, "My sculptural forms are fashioned in stone, terra-cotta, concrete, claystone, bronze or other metals. Usually, I find the preferred medium for two-dimensional pieces to be oil, graphite, or pastel, but I also create in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed-media forms."
