The CCCD in Hendersonville, NC, Features Exhibit on Craft Trail

In conjunction with HandMade in America, and in celebration of the 2004 Year of Craft in North Carolina, The Center for Craft, Creativity and Design in Hendersonville, NC, presents String of Pearls, an exhibition of the Craft Heritage Trail. The exhibition features displays from galleries in Black Mountain, Tryon, Saluda, Flat Rock, and Hendersonville.The show will be open from Mar. 23 and will remain open until May 28, 2004. Tea Time Talks will be held on Apr. 6, 2004 and May 4, 2004.

The Craft Heritage Trails of Western North Carolina is a guidebook produced by HandMade in America. The book provides information on craft artists, galleries, restaurants and historic inns in Western North Carolina. The latest edition was released last summer, and is comprised of eight trails, including String of Pearls. Galleries participating in the exhibition include; Wickwire gallery of Hendersonville, Heartwood Contemporary Crafts of Saluda, Hand in Hand Gallery of Flat Rock, Seven Sisters of Black Mountain, Silver Fox Gallery of Tryon, and the Folk Art Center in Asheville.

The Center for Craft, Creativity and Design is a regional, inter-institutional Center of The University of North Carolina with a strong nonprofit support organization that provides major programming support. Working with other regional, national, and inter-national organizations, charged with research, education and community, the Center serves as an advocate for Craft.
