March Issue 2004
Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art Gallery
in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Craig Nelson & Richard
Oversmith
The Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC,
is delighted to announce their show, Truly Timeless, which
features works by Craig Nelson and Richard Oversmith. The exhibition
will be on view from Mar. 5 through Apr. 5, 2004.
Nelson, is the Department Chairman of Fine Arts, Drawing, and
Painting at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, CA. He
is a nationally known illustrator and painter who has devoted
his artistic career to capturing the vibrancy of humanity and
the tranquility of nature.
Complementing Nelson's attention to natural detail, is the work
of Richard Oversmith, who finds great inspiration in his surroundings
in Asheville, NC. Oversmith blends his study of the Old Masters,
as well as his interest in contemporary artists, to create haunting
still lifes and expressive landscapes.
From Nelson's coastal portraits of children on serene beaches
and provocative images of nudes, to Oversmith's intuitively felt
still lifes, both artists call their viewers to retreat into the
beauty of a timeless moment reflected on the canvas before them.
Nelson will also be teaching a three day painting workshop in
Charleston from Mar. 6 - 8. The workshop will be an invaluable
opportunity for local artists and students to sharpen their painting
techniques and artistic vision. The workshop comprises three full
days of instruction while painting on site in and around Charleston.
