Students of Susan Duke Show Works at Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet, SC

Watercolors at Inlet Square Mall, in the Center Court, Thursday, March 18th through Sunday, March 21st, during the regular mall hours, will provide an opportunity to view the work of Susan Dukešs watercolor students.

The show will include many true works of art, exhibited by students from Dukešs beginning and advanced classes; some of her artists have been producing for many years, and the show will include many styles and subjects, and all work will be for sale.

An accomplished artist herself, Dukešs work is displayed locally in galleries, professional buildings, banks and homes; at The Collectors Café and Gallery, in Myrtle Beach, SC; at the Georgetown Art Gallery in Georgetown, SC; at the Sunset River Art Gallery, in Calabash, NC; at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery in Charleston, SC; at the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild Art Gallery, in Myrtle Brach, and at other locations in the United States, Canada, France, England, Saudi Arabia and South America. She has also donated many of her paintings to help raise funds for arts organizations and many other worthy causes.

Duke has been painting for over 26 years, and recalls vividly her own sense of embarrassment as a beginner; and feels it brings her more compassion for her students. She had "moments when I swore Išd never go to class again." Her students are glad she persevered, and is in turn passing on her own skills, understanding, and an appreciation for art to others. Duke always encourages her students to develop their own style.

An active participant in the art world, Duke is affiliated with Portal Publications, in California, and is the originator of the Southern Palette Art Group; she is a charter member of the Georgetown Art Gallery, an exhibiting artist in the Charleston Artist Guild, and a board member of the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild. She is a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society, the Georgia Watercolor Society, the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild, the Sea Coast Art Guild, and the Waterway Art Guild.

In addition to her career in art, Duke remains active in the real estate business with her son, Aaron, and her daughter, Deborah, a registered nurse, who also live in the local area.
