Works by Richard Kaiser
The Tryon Painters and Sculptors is hosting an exhibit of watercolors
by Richard Kaiser at the Fine Arts Center in Tryon, NC, from Mar.
7 - 30, 2004.
Kaiser is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He served
in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where, among other duties,
he did illustrations for the 7th Army newspaper. After his military
service, he completed the remaining two years at the Art Institute
of Pittsburgh. After graduation he worked in the Ohio area; then
in several Pittsburgh advertising agencies before moving to New
York.
Kaiser worked in commercial art in the New York metropolitan area
for 40 years as a self-employed graphic artist and illustrator
for a number of high profile companies. Kaiser's watercolors are
in many private collections, including the North Carolina National
Bank, Duke University, and, most notably, Wachovia National Bank
which used one of his paintings for their Corporate Year 2000
holiday greeting card.
Kaiser is an associate member of the American Watercolor Society
and a member of the Garden State Watercolor Society. His work
has also been featured in the American Artist magazine.
His book, Painting Outdoor Scenes in Watercolor, is currently
out of print; however, his works continue to be featured in North
Light Publications' own books. Prior to moving to North Carolina,
he taught watercolor painting in several adult school systems
in New Jersey. Since moving to North Carolina, he has taught adult
classes at Blue Ridge Community College and was invited to teach
at the 2002 Cheap Joe's Art Supplies Workshop in Boone, NC.
