March Issue 2005
American Originals Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Marlies Kaufmann Williams
American Originals Gallery in Charleston, SC,
is offering an exhibit of works by Marlies Kaufmann Williams,
through Mar. 31, 2005.
Williams came to the Lowcountry in 1997 from Charlotte, NC, where
she studied architecture and worked in construction for over 30
years. Originally from the steel and coal industry countryside
of West Germany, she grew to appreciate the power of nature in
its mechanical form and in our endless marshes, she finds an unlikely
similarity: the essence of power in nature. This is her inspiration.
Williams' abstractions of the marshes are up close and personal. She attempts to convey the impact the marsh has on life, its primal nurturing, unforgiving wildness and stark beauty. She expresses her interpretations of the emotions and moods of the marsh in her brilliant and powerful paintings. Williams objective is for the viewer to resonate in his or her own way and to come away with something of their own.
Williams lives in Beaufort, SC, and is a full-time artist. She has had exhibits in Beaufort, Hilton Head, SC, and Charlotte.
