Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, Offers 2005 Living Gallery
On Mar. 31, Apr. 1 and Apr. 2, 2005, thousands will experience the eighth annual Living Gallery production presented by the Museum & Gallery on the campus of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.
This year's production, Looking Unto Jesus, features works from nationally and internationally known collections such as the Ringling, the National Gallery in London, and the Louvre. Guests are sure to enjoy the variety of genre and subject matter.
The art planned for this year's program includes:
Paintings:
Annunciation by Orazio Gentileschi, Galleria Sabauda, Turin,
Italy; Christ driving the Traders from the Temple, by Bernardo
Cavallino, National Gallery, London; The Adoration of the Magi,
by Jan Boeckhorst, called Lange Jan, from the Bob Jones University
Collection; Christ Leaving the Praetorium, by Gustave Doré,
from the Bob Jones University Collection; Christ Healing the
Blind, by Domenico Fiasella, from the Collection of The John
and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the State Art Museum of Florida;
Christ with the Roman Centurion, by Jean Baptiste Jouvenet,
from the Bob Jones University Collection; and Ecce Homo,
by Antonio Ciseri, Palazzo Pitti, Florence, Italy.
Sculptures:
Ecce Homo, by France de Nord, Museé du Louvre, Paris,
France; Flagellation of Christ, by Lucas Faydherbe, Church
of Hanswijk, Mechelen, Belgium; and The Descent from the Cross,
by Jacopo Tatti, called Sansovino, The Victoria and Albert Museum,
London.
Stained Glass:
Ascension Window, by Louis C. Tiffany, First Presbyterian
Church, Topeka, Kansas.
On Mar. 31 and Apr. 1, performance times are 4:30 and 7:30pm. On Apr. 2, performances are at 2, 4:30, and 7:30pm. Living Gallery tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children under the age of 6 cannot be admitted. For tickets, call 864/242-5100, Ext. 5750.
