USC Sumter in Sumter, SC, Features Works by Rebecca Rhees
Home, an exhibit of photographic art created by recent USC Columbia MFA graduate Rebecca Rhees, will be on view in the Upstairs Gallery of USC Sumter's Administration Building in Sumter, SC, through Mar. 31, 2005.
"Ms. Rhees is currently interested in the expressive capabilities of historic photographic processes and their relevance to contemporary experience," said Professor Cara-lin Getty, USC Sumter's director of galleries and curator of exhibits. "Her recent body of work features the tintype, which she uses for its inherently unique characteristics to portray her view of the subject of home."
During her graduate study at USC, Rhees received the John Benz Graduate Studio Art Award from the university's Department of Art. Prior to attending USC, she earned her BFA degree from Brigham Young University in her home state of Utah.
Recently, Rhees' work was showcased in an exhibit at Columbia's City Art featuring new works by a selected group of artists. City Art has represented her work since 2002.
