March Issue 2006
Arts United for Davidson
County in Lexington, NC, Features Quilt Exhibition
Arts United
for Davidson County in Lexington, NC, is presenting the 2006
Quilt Exhibition, on view through Mar. 22, 2006.
We are fortunate in Davidson County to be surrounded by fine craftsmanship in furniture, textiles, wine-making, cooking, art and even motorsports. The people of NC have a deep respect and appreciation for craft. In the midst of this creative environment, one tradition has existed for hundreds of years. It is artistry in the hands of everyday people.
We are speaking, of course, about quilts. A necessity for the early settlers, a comfort for generations, now a respected art form. Many unique designs of quilts will be on display in the Arts United Gallery including a collection of approximately 14 Amish hand-made quilts.
