Gallery 80808 in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Patrick Parise
Reflections is a show of new works by Columbia,
SC, artist Patrick Parise, on view from Mar. 24 through Apr. 4,
2006, at the Vista Studios' Gallery 80808, located in the Vista
area of Columbia.
Described by the artist as a retrospective of his varied inspirations
over the last several years, Parise will be showing original etchings
as well as paintings on canvas, both realistic and abstract. The
work also includes paintings on wood panels and glass, monoprints,
and hand painted ceramic plates. A representation of his custom
floor designs of exotic woods, granite and marble will also be
on display.
"I don't set limits on creativity," Parise says of his
work. "My creativity comes in different forms and I've found
that some of my best work involves great attention to detail,
whether in the abstract or in a traditional setting."
Parise's numerous accomplishments include his selection by the South Carolina State Development Board to provide 150 etchings depicting South Carolina scenes for gifts to foreign dignitaries. He created seventy-one etchings for a twenty-five-room guesthouse at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken, SC. Parise's work was selected to be awarded by the South Carolina Joint Legislative Committee on Cultural Affairs to fourteen South Carolina businesses recognized for their contributions to and support of the arts in South Carolina. His participation in the Palmetto Tree Project with the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties brought the second-highest purchase price at auction. He also designed and created twenty-two, 7" high mahogany and brass candleholders for Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
Parise will be available
at the gallery on weekends from 11am-6pm and on weekdays by appointment.
