Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, Features NC Art Survey

Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, is presenting the exhibit, The Best of North Carolina Important Fine Art from the 19th and 20th Century, on view through Mar. 28, 2006.

This year's exhibition consists of paintings, drawings, etchings,engravings, and photography. A wide range of styles and subjects are represented from the many years covered in the show. Classic landscapes can be found by painters such as Sarah Blakeslee, Francis Speight and Mabel Pugh, all three graduates of the esteemed Pennsylvania Academy of Art.

The supernatural is expressed by visionary artist Minnie Evans. Ethereal works by Hobson Pittman and Elliott Daingerfield will hang alongside 50's and 60's modernism by Claude Howell, Joe Cox, Herb Jackson and Mary Ann Keel Jenkins. Also on display will be engravings by Harry Fenn from the 1800s, etchings by Louis Orr from the 1940's and the beautiful photography of the pioneer female photographer Bayard Wootten. The artworks are from private collections and have rarely been shown publicly before now.

This exhibition provides a rare opportunity to learn about the history of art in North Carolina and to add pieces of artistic and historic importance to your own private collections. All artwork will be viewable online at (www.galleryc.net).
