Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Offers 4th Outdoor Painting Exhibition
Coleman Fine Art will host four of the country's leading artists for a plein-air paint out in Charleston, SC, from Mar. 19-23, 2007, for the Fourth Annual WET PAINT. The group of artists will include Jason Situ, Andrew Evansen, David Lussier, and Mary Whyte. The artists will paint different locations in and around the Charleston area for one week. The exhibit of works completed will open on Mar. 23 and remain on view until Apr. 6, 2007. Fresh works will be posted on the gallery's website daily during the week.
Coleman Fine Art will bring these particular artists together from across the United States because they embody a diverse representation of the east and west coast plein air painters in both style and medium.
An accomplished artist living in Laguna Beach, CA, Jason Situ, completed his education in one of China's most prestigious art academies, the Guangzhou Fine Arts Institute in China. Upon his arrival to the United States, he became fascinated with California landscapes and soon established his career there as a plein air painter. Situ is a signature member of the Laguna Beach Plein Air Association and the Oil Painter's of America.
David Lussier, visiting from Woodstock, CT, is a signature member of the National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters and his paintings hang in numerous private and corporate collections. Collectors can recognize his strong Impressionistic style and bold brush strokes.
A watercolorist and painting instructor from Vermillion, MN, Andrew Evansen served as the President of the Minnesota Watercolor Society from 2004 through 2006. Evansen, who is largely self taught recently won an international competition for American Artist's Watercolor magazine.
Charleston artist, Mary Whyte, will continue to capture breathtaking scenes with her watercolor brush and paper. Whyte is most recognized for her figurative watercolors of the African-American Gullah culture from John's Island, SC.
