Furman University in Greenville, SC, Offers Works by Kristy Deetz
Furman University in Greenville, SC, is presenting the exhibition, Waxing Poetic, featuring a collection of works by artist Kristy Deetz. The exhibit will be on view at the University's Thompson Art Gallery, located in the Roe Art Building, through Mar. 28, 2007.
Waxing Poetic is a collection of carved wooden reliefs painted with encaustic. Deetz's work revises conventional images of drapery in attempting to revive its spiritual content while playing with the relationship to Christian iconography.
Deetz is assistant professor of communication and the arts at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. She has previously been on the faculty of Savannah College of Art and Design. Deetz received degrees from Bowling Green State University and Ohio State University.
