Hodges Taylor Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Group Exhibit Looking Inside
Hodges Taylor Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition entitled, Interiors. The show features works by Ann Lyne and Cheryl Goldsleger as well as a number of photographers, including Elizabeth Matheson. The exhibition opens Mar. 2 and continues through Apr. 27, 2007.
Ann Lyne
Ann Lyne's work is vibrant with bold lines and a graphic sensibility. She is not a literal painter, but one who is working from her deepest feelings. Intuitively using warm tones that play off the silvery gray and black, the paintings offer a directness that welcomes the viewer. Lyne's work was initially exhibited at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte in 1957, after which time she has continued to receive many awards and honors. The artist lives and works in Virginia.
Cheryl Goldsleger
Complex, three-dimensional works draw you into the vortex created by Cheryl Goldsleger in much of her work. She has stated, "Even though my paintings deal with representational imagery, they have nothing to do with reality." That said, enough architectural space is suggested to set the mind whirling. Are these ancient coliseums, or perhaps current libraries? Though no people are visible, we feel their presence and their handiwork. Goldsleger's paintings are found in numerous museums as well as major corporate collections. The artist lives and works in Georgia.
In business since 1981, Hodges Taylor Gallery's mission is to support contemporary artists of the southeast, offering a public venue in uptown Charlotte for viewing artwork and serving as art consultants for businesses and individuals.
