Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Emily Wilson and Carol Mothner
Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting two solo exhibitions including: Emily Wilson: New Works and Carol Mothner: Works on Paper, both on view through Mar. 17, 2007.
Emily Wilson
Jerald Melberg Gallery is delighted to present an exhibition of new works by Memphis, TN, native Emily Wilson. Wilson has said that her sculpture evolved from her interest in color, natural forms and music. Expertly hand-carved pieces of basswood are gracefully united upon a steel wire armature. Easily recognizable forms of flowers, leaves and birds are depicted alongside fantastic shapes from the artist's imagination.
Wilson received her BFA from the Memphis Academy of Arts, and her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Montgomery Museum of Art and the Huntsville Museum of Art, as well as many major corporate and private collections.
This is the artist's fourth solo exhibition with the gallery.
Carol Mothner
Jerald Melberg Gallery is also pleased to present Carol Mothner with her first solo exhibition at the gallery. Mothner depicts geese, wild birds' nests, eggs and other commonplace objects in simple arrangements, creating objects of contemplation, in this exhibition of monoprints and works on paper.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mothner studied at the Brooklyn Museum School, the Art Students League, and the School of Visual Arts. Currently residing in Santa Fe, NM, Mothner has been honored with numerous gallery and museum exhibitions across the US.
