Watermark Hypnosis Center & Serenity Gallery in Columbia, SC, Features Works by Gail M. Little

Watermark Hypnosis Center & Serenity Gallery in Columbia, SC, will present an exhibit of works by Gail M. Little of Charlotte, NC, on view from Mar. 22 through Apr. 5, 2007.

"We are delighted to showcase Gail's work," said Fredric Mau, co-owner of Watermark. "Watermark has been proud to include some of Gail's pieces since we opened our doors, and this is an opportunity to invite the public to experience a wider breadth of her work, from brilliantly colored paintings to her vivid three dimensional art."

Little began her life of artistic expression at the tender age of 4, when she created an unsolicited mural on the stark white hallway walls of her parents' new home in Lincolnton, NC. Little vividly recalls the feeling of elation and all the swirling colors which transformed the hall from plain white to beautiful. She says now that she knew in her heart the experience was something wonderful, and she has never stopped creating artwork.

Over the years, Little developed her own design firm, and worked for a number of years designing sets for furniture photography featuring the products of many of the largest furniture manufacturers in North Carolina. Her work in this area has taken Little across the United States and Canada. She has also worked in the decorative arts realm of faux finish techniques, murals, and trompe l'oeil.

In recent years and through the encouragement of her friend Joan Robbins Faison, head of the Interior Design Department of The Art Institute of Charlotte, Little has been able to share her knowledge and experience as both a guest speaker and student, collaborating with her class on a large-scale project that placed second place at the Southern Spring Show in Charlotte.

Little currently works in both watercolor and acrylics, many of which are landscapes or detailed studies of architectural elements that catch her eye during her travels. Her three-dimensional art includes a collection of whimsical stick women and hand-painted boxes, as well as linens and bird houses.
