Southern Circuit Film Tour Continues in Columbia, SC
The Columbia Film Society, in Columbia, SC, is one of the host for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit Film Tour, a program of the SC Arts Commission. The Southern Circuit is a touring exhibition of six independent film/videomakers with their works; and is the only centrally-organized, regional program of its kind in the nation. The Circuit continues with Heather McAdams' Cartoon Girl, Thursday, Apr. 13 at 8pm.
In speaking about her film McAdams said, "Shooting, drawing, recording and painting the entire film in our Chicago apartment, I drew all of the pictures and my husband Chris did all the sound. We both kind of made it up as we went along". MYV liked their film so much they rehired the team to do ten short "intersticials" based very closely on autobiographical comics from McAdams' book Cartoon Girl, published by Longstreet Press, Marietta, GA, which ran on MTV at odd hours of the night and as part of a show called, Cartoon Sushi.
There will be a filmmaker reception, from 6:30-730pm, prior to the screening at 8pm at the Nickelodeon Theatre, located at 937 Main Street in Columbia, behind the State House.
Columbia's site for the 1999-2000 Southern Circuit is sponsored by Bravo, the independent film and video channel and Time Warner Cable.
Individual ticket prices are as follows: $3.50 for members of McKissick Museum and Columbia Film Society; $4.50 for seniors and students; and $6.00 for non-members. It should be noted that only members of the Columbia Film Society and McKissick Museum can reserve seats. Seats must be reserved by 5:30pm the evening of the individual screening. Reserve tickets will be held at the Nickelodeon Theatre box office, 10 minutes prior to the screening. Unclaimed tickets will be sold.
