South Carolina Public Invited to Attend Canvas of the People Forums
A series of six Canvas of the People public forums will be held around the state through Apr. 5, 2001 as part of the South Carolina Arts Commission new long-range planning process. The meetings are designed for arts patrons, artists, arts educators, arts organizations and the public, to voice issues, ideas and concerns that will present opportunities and challenges in the next decade.
Focused on obtaining a broad cross-section
of information representing citizens statewide, the public's response
from Canvas of the people will be used to help guide the
development of the arts in South Carolina over the next seven
to nine years. The scheduled of the remaining forums are:
Apr. 3 - College of Charleston, Simons Center, 54 St. Philip Street,
Charleston, SC, hosted by the College of Charleston School of
the Arts - 3:30-4:30pm - Artists Forum - Emmett Robinson Theatre
& 5:30-7pm - Public Forum - Recital Hall.
Apr. 4 - College of Charleston, Simons Center, 54 St. Philip Street,
Charleston, SC, hosted by the College of Charleston School of
the Arts - 10-11:30am - Arts Organization Board Members' Forum.
Apr. 5 - Anderson County Arts Center Warehouse, 405 North Main
Street, Anderson, SC, hosted by the Anderson County Arts Council
- 3:30-4:30pm - Artists Forum - 5-6:30pm - Public Forum.
To prepare for participating in these meetings,
the public is invited to visit the Arts Commission's web site
at (http://www.state.sc.us/arts) to see a list of the forum questions.
Those individuals unable to attend are welcome to read through
the questions on the web site and provide their input in written
form via e-mail, fax or regular mail. If you would like the questions
