Green Door Gallery Presents First Exhibition in Kannapolis, NC

A new contemporary art gallery has opened in Kannapolis, NC. The Green Door Gallery is owned and operated by artist, Ken Hillberry. In addition to his watercolor and acrylic paintings, pastels and monotypes, the original work by other developing and established artists will continually be featured. The Grand Opening for the gallery was celebrated in Jan., 2001.

The concept of exhibiting and selling original artwork by artists locally, regionally and beyond is a relatively new format to the area, however the growth and development of the corridor between Charlotte, Greensboro and Statesville, offers visitors and artists exciting opportunities to exhibit and view the wide range of talent, which exists throughout the southeast.

Works by Ken Hillberry will be featured in a solo exhibition during the month of Apr., entitled, Endangered. The body of work focuses on an introspective of images and circumstances depicting the beauty, as well as, volatile effects of our society's growth, demands, and aggressive tendencies, particularly on the animal world.

The Green Door Gallery is devoted to providing a creative and diverse venue through on-going and solo exhibitions of dedicated artisans' work, and the promotion of the purchase of original art. Works displayed in the gallery include watercolors, acrylics, oils, prints, drawings, mixed media, monotypes & monoprints, ceramic sculpture, studio glass design and photography. The artists included have produced extraordinary and individual styles including contemporary realism, abstraction, impressionistic and conceptualistic compositions, giving visitors and partons the opportunity to see and experience an array of depth and breadth in interesting expression.

Currently at the gallery are paintings by Ken Hillberry, Joan Carver, Norman Belge, and Marcel Bourbonniere; sculpture by Chase Winfield; pottery by Kirk Argo and Norma Valaszques; and studio glass by Kym Cress.

Green Door Gallery also features a custom framing center, where the discerning customer has an intriguing selection of classic to contemporary moulding styles in wood or metal for tasteful and creative solutions for their framing needs.

"We look forward to serving the community and the region alike, as we welcome you to visit the green Door Gallery and experience our unique atmosphere," said Hillberry.

The gallery is located at 608 North Cannon Boulevard (Hwy. 29/601) in historic Kannapolis, which is approximately 25 miles north of Charlotte via I-85. Traveling time from the Greensboro area is roughly 45 minutes.
