Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, NC, Presents 7th Annual Spring Artists Exhibition
The Fine Arts League of Cary is sponsoring the 7th Annual Spring Artists Exhibition being held at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center in Cary, NC. The exhibition will take place from Apr. 1 through May 1, 2001.
From hundreds of paintings and three-dimensional works, executed in diverse styles and media, two jurors, Denise Dickens and Scott Eagle, will select pieces to be displayed in the Page-Walker's main galleries. The artwork considered most outstanding will be chosen for 14 cash awards, including $1000 for first place. During the opening reception, a trophy will be presented for Mayor Glen Lang's favorite and all guests attending will be asked to vote for the People's Choice Award. Local corporations and professional people, whose selections will be noted, have offered a number of purchase awards ranging from $250 to $1000.
In addition to bringing national recognition to the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, NC, where she is Executive Director, Denise Dickens has been a Curator and Assistant Director of the Asheville Art Museum and Curator for the R.J. Reynolds Corporation. In the past, she has served on the Artist Selection Jury for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport Authority, and on the Visual Arts Panel for the 1996 Olympic Arts Festival in Atlanta, GA.
Scott eagle is Assistant Professor in Painting/Foundations at East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, and has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. His work was included in the 1999 North Carolina Artists Exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of Art and his paintings and collages have appeared in the New York Times, The Cleveland Plains Dealer, the Oxford American, and on several book covers.
